Character auditioning for: William Tuner
Why do you want to rp this character so much?: Because I think Will is a very good character, and very interesting, plus I like how he always wants to help and do good, it was just rare in those days.
The History of the character: Will is the son and only child of the pirate "Bootstrap Bill" Turner. He bears a great resemblance to his father, both in appearance and in physical ability. However, he never saw his father during his childhood in England and grew up thinking that Bill Turner was a merchant seaman. After his mother's death, Will, age 12, embarked on a journey to the Caribbean, attempting to search for his father, but his boat was attacked and sunk by a pirate boat, the Black Pearl. He was the only survivor of the disaster and was rescued at sea by LT. James Norrington and the new governor of Port Royal, Weatherby Swann after being spotted among the debris and flotsam by Swann's daughter Elizabeth. As Will lies unconscious on the ship's deck, Elizabeth, 10, notices that he is adorned around the neck with a rather piratesque golden medallion. In order to prevent Norrington from thinking the young man a pirate, Elizabeth takes the medallion, and keeps it in her possession until age 18.
It is implied that Will and Elizabeth develop a tentative friendship in the years between the initial flashback and the film's actual time period. This attachment eventually blossoms into romance, though Will is rather reluctant to openly reveal his feelings for Elizabeth, probably because he feels that their difference in social rank and status would prevent anything from coming of their shared inclination.
In Port Royal, Will becomes an expert blacksmith and practices fencing with his blades three hours every day. He is able to hold his own in combat against other experienced swordsmen, like Captain Jack Sparrow. Will's skill in swordplay is more a result of training than the on-the-job experience most other pirates have received.
Will's father, nicknamed "Bootstrap" was actually a former crew member on the Black Pearl under Captain Jack Sparrow's command. When the crew mutinied under First Mate Barbossa's leadership, Bootstrap objected to the mutiny and stated that the crew deserved to be cursed. In retaliation, Bootstrap sent away a piece of the cursed Aztec gold to his son, Will Turner, so that the crew would remain under the gold's curse forever. When Captain Barbossa learned of this, he had Bootstrap tied to a cannon and thrown overboard. Ironically for Barbossa and his crew, it was later learned that they needed blood from everyone who had taken from the chest to break the curse, including Turner. With Bootstrap at the bottom of the ocean, Will is thusly the only one left to give Turner blood to break the curse.
Descent sized sample post: (at the end of the Dead man's chest)
I sat in Tiadalma's hut, with the crew sitting and standing around me. The love of my life sat across from me her eyes never leaving her mug, tears streamed down her round face. I had never seen her so sad and upset, but I knew why....Jack. I had seen her kiss him, that had destroyed my heart, and our future. I knew now that when we left Tiadalma's hut Elizabeth would not come with me, no we'd go are own ways, at least she would want to. I noticed the other crew members sad and upset as well, and why shouldn't they Jack was a good man, and I knew he would of never kissed Elizabeth himself, no it was her that kissed him.
My eyes stung and I felt tears build up, it hurt to look at the candles Tiadalma had lit, but it also hurt to look at everyone else too. My eyes trailed over the crew one more time before landing on Tiadalma, her dark eyes locked with mine and I squinted and forced myself to look downwards, the tears falling from my eyes, for Jack, my father, Elizabeth, and everything wrong in my life. I felt like I had failed as a son, a love, and most of all a pirate.
(I hope thats ok)
